Y2 is the final year in key stage 1, we continue to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding in all curriculum areas. At the end of this academic year, each child will be assessed against national standards. They will be assessed in Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Science and these assessments are designed to check that children in all schools are making progress. .
Homework in Year 2
Homework will be given out each Monday to be completed and returned on Friday.
The children will bring their reading books home every night to read. Please sign their books when they have read and continue to read daily with your child a range of story books together.
Spellings will be given out on Monday for a quiz on Friday.
In addition to weekly spelling rules, the children need to learn to read and spell the Common Exception words for their age group. It would be very useful if you could stick the list on your fridge and go over the words and spellings with your child. Joined handwriting homework may sometimes be given out on Friday to practise over the weekend.
