20th July 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

CLOSURE OF ST OSWALD’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL

This morning a serious drainage issue in the Infant Building whilst the children were in church meant that we had to send Year 1 pupils home at lunchtime. Unfortunately, this drainage issue has not yet been rectified and the resultant requirements for a clean-up means that this issue is likely to be ongoing for a number of days. Whilst children in other year groups were not immediately affected, it is possible that the ongoing clean-up work will encompass the whole of the Infant Building.

In the Junior Building, the current construction works are coming to a critical point, and there is likely to be some disruption to the classes in the vicinity of the building works in the next few days.

With these two issues in mind, the governors have taken the view that the best interests of the pupils would be met by the school closing for the summer holidays, one and a half days early, at the end of school today.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause you, but we feel that keeping the children safe and healthy is the most important thing.

Therefore, the school will close to pupils for the summer tonight 20th July at normal time and will welcome pupils again on 5th September 2018.

We would like to thank you all for your support and participation in the last academic year. We hope you have an enjoyable summer break. We wish our Year 6 pupils the best of luck in their new schools in September and look forwards to seeing everyone else refreshed and ready for a new start in September.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs M Walsh

Headteacher
