Good afternoon reception, here’s an idea to make learning fun. Use the toys you have at home for some reading and phonics games. Here we stuck letters to toy cars and created ‘garages’ owned by toy people. The idea of the task was to match the sound on the car to the initial sound of the words on the garage. This could be made more challenging by using digraphs/trigraphs such as ‘ai’, ‘ee’, ‘igh’, ‘air’ etc on the cars and using words containing these on the garages. Add a story to make learning more fun. Maybe the cars were lost and needed help to find their way home! Spreading the garages around the room or garden would allow for a more active approach! Have fun and enjoy learning through play!
