Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope everyone is well and those who have sent their children back to school are feeling happy with the situation. It is so lovely to have the school full of happy, smiling faces again. For those year groups who have not yet been invited back, we hope to see you soon. Our very tight risk assessment means we have maximum numbers and we have to bring bubbles back slowly.

I want to share with you some news, after a very long time in St Oswald’s, Mrs Reading, our SENDco has taken the decision to retire early. She has re-evaluated her life after the sad loss of her husband last year and she now wants to do some charity work and give something back to the wonderful support groups she received comfort from. Mrs Reading will be sadly missed but she has given a long time to the children and families of St Oswald’s, initially as a class teacher and later as a SENDco. I know you will all want to join me in wishing her happiness in the next phase of her life.

Sadly due to Corona virus there will not be an opportunity to have a final send-off party, mass or celebration. We would like to have some special memories or stories to put together some sort of momento for her after all the years we have shared together. If any of you would like to pass on a message to Mrs Reading then please either pass something into reception or email school. If you know any family members who may have been taught by her please pass this on as I know it would mean a great deal to her.

The role of Special needs coordinators will now be shared across school by Miss Jones and Miss Kirwan. Miss Kirwan, applied for the position and was successful in interview; I know she will be fantastic in the role and she is looking forward to working closely with our families. There has been lots of transition opportunities between Mrs Reading and Miss Kirwan so she will be up to speed on individual children’s needs for a start in September.

I look forward to all your memories, stories, photos etc of Mrs Reading so that we can make a virtual send-off special for such a hardworking and caring person.

Warmest Regards

Mrs M Walsh
